David A. Miller The resonating sounds in "In Time" are so rich--comforting and isolating at the same time, like so many of the pieces in this amazing collection. Favorite track: In Time.

about

In light of what's going on, I wanted to keep my brain active. As a composer, I rarely look back, always forward. These are a few of my tunes that I really love, and wanted to share them with you. Find hope in them. Find loss. Find love. Find Peace. Find Calm.

Few notes on these tracks.

In Memory
One of my favorite piano pieces. It was used in a short film And, Apart (2015) directed by my close friend Dani Prados. Another longer version of it was used in Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles (2020) directed by Laura Gabbert, a dear dear friend.

What's Right
International Piano Day is annual worldwide event–because of the number of keys on the instrument being celebrated. I wrote this a few years back for this unique event on the 88th day of the year.

Rage
I have been using Ableton Live for a while now, and this is a track for a commercial that I didn't get, and I pitched it way way down, and wrote around this riff in a state of sadness.

The Interlude
One of my favorite plays I have scored is, Between Riverside and Crazy by Stephen Adly Guirgis. Interlude, was played on a loop during preshow. It was also used in a doc by Josh Fox called How to Let Go of the World: and Love All the Things Climate Can't Change (2016). Josh has always inspired me, and it is always an honor to have my music in his films.

In Time
I created this track around 1 or so in the morning in the lobby of Dallas Theatre Center in Dallas. I love writing in isolation, and at night.

The Wind
This was used in a wonderful doc called District 15 (2020) produced by Patagonia. This short film highlights the hope and tenacity of the young activists of Wilmington, California as they push the Los Angeles City Council to prohibit new and existing oil and gas drilling operations within 2,500 feet of homes, schools and hospitals.

The Waltz/The Theme
Irish Rep is my most consistent theatre gig, and I love writing music for their shows. These two pieces were used in Dublin Carol.

To Continue
Daniel Aukin is another one of my favorite artists to work with. We met on a project in DC, and have been working together for the last 15 years. To Continue was used in Melissa James Gibson's play, What Rhymes with America.
